Clinton wasted a great deal of time trying to mediate. How good were HIS results? At least he tried and came damn close by the way. Carter before him forged a historic agreement between Arabs and Israel. Bsh is not even trying. In fact he is so lopsided on Israel's side that he embitters Arabs further and makes the solution more elusive. This problem dates back to WWI and you can't just "mediate" it away.
