"We don't always know when a dishonest person is telling the truth or deceiving us."

We also don't always know when a person who we thing to be honest is telling the truth or deceiving us.

Do you see that these two statements are redundant?

"I ask you to grant the same respect to me and not try to force me to adopt yours or criticize me when I don't follow your rules.

Let me see if I can get this straight. Your rules are that you will be dishonest and disingenuous when it suits you in presenting arguments on SI. You also don't care whether or not other persons are serious and genuine while discussing interesting subjects. You think I should know this while giving respect to you and your opinions about free speech, and other interesting subjects.

"That way, we can get along fine and have fun discussing topics like free speech, books, world affairs, and other interesting subjects.."

I am having trouble figuring out what you mean by respect or how that works in the paragraph above.
