I am not willing to give up my constitutional protections for anything. I would argue, and have argued, that by using 9/11 as an excuse to sell out our freedoms, we let the terrorists truly win. I'm not naive. I'm willing to pay for freedom with human lives. And I think freedom is worth a lot of human lives, because if you sell out, chances are that down the road you'll pay in human lives for not protecting your freedom.

<what freedom would you keep for that security>

Me, personally : I'll risk being hit by a bozo, in exchange for confidentiality of my Social Security #.
Every f'in organization in the country knows it/has a way to get to it. Very soon I may not be able to buy a donut because of "credit checks" on my SS#.
