Why would we be interested in a bought and paid for shady pseudo journalist?

zonder,
Thanks for stirring the pot. This thread can use a good debate now and then. Unfortunately, too many people get emotional when challenged. It's easier to sling insults than it is to champion one's point of view.

I would suggest that one problem with shorting SCE stocks at this stage is that they are very close to the bottom of the cycle and that the turn is being anticipated, as we can see by the opinions of many of the residents here on this thread and by the way these stocks have been trading. P/Es are going to be astronomical (or nonexistent) at the bottom of the cycle. Since we can all agree that the bottom will only be viewed in hindsight, the lower these stocks get taken, the stronger the argument builds for buying - not shorting. However, if you believe that there will not be a recovery any time soon, then you should go with your point of view and short the sector or selected stock(s).

Personally, I am still long-term bearish and still believe this is a bear market rally, in the whole market including semis and including NVLS. The excesses of the 90's simply have not been worked off yet, the US economy is sick under the surface.

However: (a) this rally may run further, there is NO sign of it rolling over yet. And (b), there is at least one case (1982) where a bear market snapback rally just kept going and turned into a new bull. So, IMO a person would be best to stand back and wait-and-see before shorting right now.

If you want to short NVLS, be aware that all the major front-end semi equip stocks move together with a correlation >90%. So you MUST ask yourself, would I short AMAT and KLAC right now? They're really all the same stock.

Not very interesting. This has been a long bear market and these kinds of articles have been a dime a dozen. Certainly is not very relevant to your decision to short or not short NVLS.
