If the teller gave him the money he had the same reason (what ever that is) to cooperate as the teller did. That is what you added to the scenario. He did not need to have this reason until the tellers reaction. Which all has nothing to do with with the original scenario designed to illustrate the premise. The note could have been worded in a way that caused the bank teller to be careful about normal appearances. For some reason it bothers you that it doesn't seem like a realistic bank robbery. I don't mind if its more fun for you to critique it as a short story, as long as you understand that developing the bank robber story has nothing to do with the topic we started out to discuss.
