Although I have a dual membership in the Red and Blue Zones, I always vote Red, so am not qualified to comment on what the Blue Zones likes to vote for. Obviously in the last election they liked Gore a lot -- he did get more of the popular vote than Bush.

When thinking about who would the Blue Zone vote for, just take a look at Karen Lawrence, Win Smith, Stockman Scott, JohnM, and we'll appoint Zonder an honorary member of the Blue Zone. Who would they vote for?

Here in the Red Zone, we think that going further to the left, e.g., electing Nancy Pelosi House Minority Leader, is a bad idea, but is it?

Slightly less than 50% of eligible voters voted in the last Presidential election -- I don't know what percentage voted in the mid-term election but surely it was even fewer.

Some of those voters are apathetic in general, but some don't vote because they don't have anybody to vote for.

A coalition of Greens and Social Democrats are doing well in most European countries. I think a person who embodied both Green and Social Democrat would do quite well in the Blue Zone.

On the other hand, Clinton did well because his message was closer to the center. Gore could not credibly deliver that message. What Gore is really saying is that he wishes he had been true to his own beliefs, which are Green and Social Democrat. If he had picked up the Nader vote, he might have won.

But maybe Gore would have won because the center vote would have stayed with him due to Clinton's coattails, just as Bush I was elected on Reagan's coattails, when both were terrible candidates standing on their own.

I can easily see that Bush I was a terrible candidate standing on his own, but can't clearly see how the Blue Zone feels about Gore.

He certainly does not seem to get any respect even from the "mainstream" media these days.

His constant navel-gazing self-absorption over the "real" Al Gore is very off-putting to me. I am sure that Tipper finds him fascinating, but most people will want to hear about ideas and plans.
