That's a beautiful prayer. I have printed it out and will suggest that we use it today before dinner.

Perhaps it might be worthwhile to remember that the Pilgrims, who celebrated the first Thanksgiving, came here to get away from religious persecution, like so many of those who came to America.

One of the many things they gave thanks for, and surely it was not the least of their blessings, was the ability to practice their own religion in freedom.

America is not the only place in the world that protects freedom of religion, but still -- how many places on earth can everybody, atheists, agnostics, Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, animists, pagans, Wiccans, Zoroastrians, those who believe in Shinto, voodoo, Santeria, whatever, express their faith freely? Not only freely -- it is the law in the United States that even your employer must reasonably accommodate your religious beliefs if this does not have a negative effect on the business operation.

To me, this is worth giving thanks for. Thanks to God, thanks to the Constitution, thanks to the brave men and women who protect our freedom.

Thanks.
