Such a weird article. It starts off by saying >>Systematising and empathising are two key dimensions in defining the male and female brain ...not all men have the male type brain and not all women have the female type brain ...the central claim ...is only that more males than females have the male type brain.<<

Then leaps (astonishingly) to >>They will have to face the idea that we are different, men and women, and that legislation designed to negate those differences will be worse than useless.<<

The entire POINT of the fricking legislation, fer cryin' out loud, is that some females have male type brains and some males have female type brains, BUT bozos like your author just can't accept it. They want to pigeon hole people according to the shape of their genitalia, not according to the abilities of their minds.

Speaking of female surgeons, I wonder if your author has made any effort to study the tremendous institutional barriers raised against women who DARE to enter this traditionally male bastion.

Another factoid your author doesn't mention is that once women start moving into a profession, men move OUT. When was the last time you saw a male secretary? Used to be only men, now almost all women. Why? Because men don't want to do "women's work." Makes their dinguses fall off or something.

In the old Soviet Union, only women were doctors. Not sure if that extended to surgeons, as well.

>>Noonan: Pro-Hillary Reagan-Haters Sending Death Threats

Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan has some advice for Sen. Minority Leader Tom Daschle on how to best cope with the wave of alleged death threats that he blames on Rush Limbaugh and Fox News Channel: Grow up.

"Tom, I have never written of this or even spoken of it," Noonan wrote on OpinionJournal.com column Friday. "But let me tell you something.

"My political philosophy is conservative. I am pro-life. I live in New York City, surrounded by modern people. They are mostly left-wing, they are all pro-choice, many of them passionately and even furiously so.

"I have written books saying Ronald Reagan is a great man and Hillary Clinton is a bad woman. I know something about being a target, and I know something about hate mail.

Then the author of "The Case Against Hillary Clinton" revealed:

"I have received not hundreds but thousands of the most personal and obscene denunciations; I have received death threats; I have been threatened with blackmail; I have been informed that I do not deserve to live; I have received a three page typed double spaced letter with perfect grammar and syntax the first sentence of which was 'Dr. Ms Noonan, Let me explain to you why you are a . . .' and here I cannot suggest the word used..... I used to hear regularly from a woman who'd tell me she hopes I have a brain hemorrhage."

Noonan said she decided against going the Daschle route and calling a press conference to complain about left-wing hate speech because she considers such a move "both self- pitying and self-aggrandizing."

But, adds the Fox News Channel contributor, there's another reason:

"I'm a grownup. I know you pay a price for the stands you take. It's a disputatious world. Rocks get thrown...... So I stand where I stand and pay. And you know what? Too bad. Tough. That's life."

Unless, apparently, you're a liberal Democrat.<<
