Good idea for a thread.

The only preferred I own right now is TLM preferred A. $25 at par 9% and is callable 2/15/04. It trades close to par on x-dividend day.

I am risk averse these days and am looking for preferreds from companies with solid balance sheets and in businesses that are required for human survival. <g>

I suspect the office reits will have some tough times going forward. I owned FR the reit when Merrill Lynch brought it to market and sold it when they were buying properties above replacement cost. Buffett also dumped the reit at that time. They have some properties close to my home and the occupancy rate is going down. I have not dug through their financials recently and do not know how solid they are today
