Doctorates are cheap, and the modern version of the snake-oil salesman has a wall full of credentials. He uses his skills to get quoted by the dunderhead left wing media and, rather than defraud his victims face-to-face, he preys on the poorly-educated millions (Clinton's crowd) and the over-educated with a bone to pick with their society-through brainy sounding themes like "global warming" and "acid rain". These new skilled con men can hold forth for hours pumping their fraud. They publish books, AND EVEN OCCASIONALLY bamboozle the vastly-overrated Nobel Prize committee. Their greatest weapon today: Taking advantage of the anti-American sentiment spread by the aging Marxist/Leninist "establishment" media in Europe and the United States. Look at Europe's Luddite crusade against bio-engineered food. They are starting to starve Third World countries through this mass ignorance, backed by pseudo-scientific pump artists.
