Here is an excellent article 'looking back at Indianoplis Colt embarassment', good points in it.Especially it should be noted Colts are now 8-4(game with us turned their season around).
Another comment, on readinf Philly.com stuff, the team saying that how important it is in terms of confidence to know they are good enough to win without McNabb, and this will help both the team and McNabb on his return.

The bottom line | Indy debacle just a bad game after all
By Les Bowen

Troy Vincent breaks up a pass for Isaac Bruce in the third quarter

It was only 3 weeks ago that the Eagles' defense didn't work against an accomplished quarterback. Peyton Manning proved that, remember?

Three impressive Eagles victories later, the blueprint Manning and the Indianapolis Colts supposedly provided for opponents to use against defensive coordinator Jim Johnson's schemes has not been much help to Jake Plummer, Jeff Garcia or Kurt Warner.

"I just knew we had a bad game'' against the Colts, Johnson said yesterday, the day after his defense suffocated Warner's Rams, 10-3. "We weren't aggressive, we didn't cover well. For whatever reason why we didn't, we didn't. I don't know if you'd call it a wakeup call, but I think [the players] came to the decision that if we're going to go down, we're going to go down aggressive. Not that they weren't being aggressive before, but I think they might have taken some things for granted.''

The Colts were out to save their season that day, and they have, going from 4-4 to 8-4. There is no guarantee the result would be different if the Eagles played them again. But there is no question that since then, the Birds' defense has responded admirably to its biggest challenge.

"You can analyze it a lot of ways,'' Johnson said. "I don't know if you'd say we needed that game or not, but I know one thing - we're not going to let it happen again. They've showed me something I've felt all along, that these guys have a lot of pride. Troy [Vincent] has a lot of pride. Bobby [Taylor] has a lot of pride.''

When Johnson started talking to reporters about the need to be more aggressive, some of those proud Birds winced a little. Vincent said at the time that he wasn't sure what Johnson meant.

"They know what I mean by 'aggressive' - challenging receivers in man coverage and things like that. It's not just one person; I'm talking about everybody,'' Johnson said.

It's hard to imagine head coach Andy Reid getting involved in an exchange with a player through the media like that, and laughing it off, the way Johnson did. But at 61, Johnson doesn't seem to feel the need to deal in cautious coachspeak. He is cherished by reporters covering the team as the truthteller, the guy who cuts to the chase.

The kind of success the Eagles seem to be standing on the verge of surely will bring rewards. Already, offensive coordinator Brad Childress' name is being mentioned in head-coaching speculation, although Childress is in his first year as a coordinator, and Reid calls the plays. Johnson's name so far has not come up. But Childress is 45, and that's a crucial 16 years separating him from Johnson.

"There are so many good coaches in this league that don't all get jobs,'' Johnson said. "It's not that I don't want to be recognized, not that I don't want a head-coaching job, but I don't think of it every day>> philly.com
