Hello John,
sorry, all I know of Shiningbank is as you say they are gassy. As I recall, they were a high flyer during the last NG bubble in the same vein as NCN. I've not done any DD on them though.

On the trading us Canucks are spoiled in the sense that we can seamlessly trade CDN or US stocks for the same high nominal fee when dealing with one of our overly powered banks. 29CDN or 29US for a limit order. We usually run a USD account also to avoid constant conversions. In our tax deferred retirement accounts we get dinged for whatever the going conversion rate CDN/USD is though.

Some of the US gold guys use Penntrade I believe for CDN stocks and seem happy with them. Might be worth a look.

I like that analyst's comments. Gassy energy trusts, light on REITS (nil for me) and stable income from good mature business with stable profits.

regards
Kastel

Quick and Reilly charges the same for execution on Toronto as the US. But it pays to do your own currency conversion and trade only using limit orders. Otherwise some middleperson may grab a large spread.

I think I will look into SHN. I had the wrong impression that it had been started only last year. Do you know how long it has been going?
