legal difficulties of property ownership as the real source of problems such as you cite with Mexico

If you talked to people who bought property for summer or retirement homes in Baja, and had their property taken away from them by the Courts, you would believe it. I used to read about this at least once a year when I lived in California.

What's particularly ironic about this remark is that Mexico is in fact suffering from many decades of Communist one party rule -- that "ultimate stage of democracy" which is supposed to cure all the ills of leaving things to the market...

Dennis, I'm not aware of a "Communist one party rule" in Mexico. Could you help me? I do know about a one party rule from the time of the revolution. Is that what you have in mind?
