We also have the present case where the "Rico Act" is being used to try to stop protests.

If you have in mind, the cases of abortion protestors trying to bloc women from access to abortion clinics, that's not speech. They are blocking women from exercising their rights.

If they are picketing across the street or protesting in a way that preserves the right of access, that's protected protest.
