"Disagree. The Declaration of Independence is a great rant, but the most important US document is the Constitution."

A "rant"?

The moral foundation of the USA is expressed most clearly in the D. of I. This is why it should be exported. It gives hope to the disenfranchised and as such it can form the basis of a just society.

A constitution is a set of rules which govern the people of a country. As such each constitution must be formed to the needs of the particular people in that country. As you point out the constitution of the USSR is a great constitution and was taken over by Russia. But the moral fibre of Democracy was missing and is being learned, albeit slowly.

I think the Declaration of Independence is the most important Political Document ever written. It's opening sequence, "All Men are Created Equal," and have "the right to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness," caused a World Wide Revolution.

The Constitution appeals to the Lawyer in you, I think.
