Definitely sounds like more of an "action" picture, which is fine with me. :o}

So how in the world did they deal with the Ents? I remember that there were some pretty magical scenes in the book when Merry and Pippin fell in with the big tree fellah, you know, ole what's his name. Treebeard? I bet they left that out, just like they left out Tom Bombadil and the Barrow Wight scenes in "Fellowship."

I'm not being picky, mind you. Some things had to get cut out or each movie would be 10 hrs long. In "Fellowship" they got the "Mines of Moria" exactly precisely right which made me forgive everything. :o} The way you describe "The Battle at Helms Deep" will probably make me feel the same way. Conversly, I actually liked that they added Liv Tyler and gave her character a prominent role. The scene at the fords where she raised her sword and defied the Nazgul gave me goose bumps. ;o}

11 more days to go. Sigh.

One of these days I'd like to see a movie made about the Maccabean revolt, or even Josephus's War of The Jew's. But lamentably, in today's political climate, they'd probably be considered too esoteric or politically incorrect.

but the Battle of Helm's Deep is going to be hard to top.

I think then that the seige of Minas Tirith is going to absolutely make everyone shit themselves... :)

Not to mention the battle at the Black Gate. Oooh!

Can't wait for Dec. 2003!
