Unemployment numbers.

James and William.

I'm in IT, working now again in a contract position.

From talking to others, the market is still very bad.
I have a good friend who cannot find any IT job. He was
making 70-80K before, and there are just not jobs available now.

Also - people are giving up looking - "discouraged" right?
and these are not being counted in the 6% statistics - as
they drop off unemployment rolls.

These are not 20-somethings with 1-2 years of IT experience, but 40ish people with 18-20 years of IT experience, a B.S. in Computer Science, sometimes with
graduate work also (my friend taught briefly at our University - a beginning Computer Science class)

Tremendous talent being idled right now.

There should be a way to put this brainpower to work on Homeland Security. Sounds like a good idea to me.
