If you actually believe that Afghanistan was about oil I don't. It is, however, a fact that Hamid Karzai was a guy educated in the west, who did not even fight against the Soviets or anything and instead did consulting for UNOCAL, a US oil company. He negotiated with the Taliban for an oil pipeline. lemonde.fr I mentioned in passing that another guy sympathetic to US oil companies would be placed at the top of the "new regime" in Iraq. That is all. Let's wait and see if I am being a "conspiracy theorist" in saying that.
