Re "That's the civilized way to handle disputes now" - Yes, I realized that is how the definition has evolved over the past year or so. It is sort of strange, though <g>

That's what deterrence of nuclear armed countries is all about - threatening them with obliteration of their populations

In the case of the US, it cannot work, imho. Nobody is mad enough to believe that the US public will ever side with the incineration of millions of civilians, babies, etc a la Hiroshima. And that the US administration will ever risk nuclear fallout in Israel. Oops, you did not think of that, did you?
