Reagan attempted it with Star Wars but it never came about. Even today, we don't have the interceptor powers we need. Test after test fails. There are things that I find very puzzling - i.e. putting the master of deception, Kissinger, in charge of the 9/11 probe; putting Poindexter (convicted of Iran/Contra) in charge of the Homeland Security database that tracks data on AMERICANS! The whole idea of that new department not having to answer to Congress or the American people. That database will be able to combine the data the government collects from its various agencies (IRS, SSA, etc) and private industry (banking, insurance) and create an all encompassing file on individual Americans. That is very scary to me. People who are in the system are not the ones I think we should be tracking. I see a whole lot of abuse in the future.
