who cares about all that. THe fact of the matter is he was one of the original that in 1956, Fulbright was one of 19 senators who issued a statement entitled the "Southern Manifesto."

and the bottom line is clinton called him a great American and his mentor......now....either men can say things honoring service of other men or they cannot, same as Lott, same as Byrd..

PS: I do not care if the Republicans toss Lott for another leader, what I care about is the Democrats being HUGE hypocrites, and playing politics with this. BTW, did you know the ""Black" caucus did everything possible to keep JC Watt out of their little club??

Where is the other side of the story?

So he wasn't anti-Semetic, he certainly was a racist.

THIS makes it all right because he was Clinton's mentor?

Why can't the left be fair and balanced?

Double standards must be destroyed.

Fullbright: "Gradually but unmistakably America is showing signs of that arrogance of power—the tendency of great nations to equate power with virtue and major responsibilities with a universal mission—which has affected, weakened and in some cases destroyed great nations in the past. In so doing, we are not living up to our capacity and promise as a civilized example for the world; the measure of our falling short is the measure of the patriot's duty of dissent. And, in a democracy, dissent is an act of faith."

Words of wisdom.
