09:52 ET Sentiment improves slightly
Michigan sentiment rose to 87.0 in early December from 84.2 in November; this was better than the 85.0 consensus. Though the market is reacting positively, this is beginning to look like a tail wagging the dog story. Confidence appears to be tracking the market in recent months, falling through the summer and early fall, and then recovering since the market bottomed in early October. So it's a bit ironic that the market then reacts to the sentiment numbers which the market itself appears to be influencing. The improvement in sentiment can be considered slightly good news, but it's important to note that spending has been showing little relation to sentiment this year.

glad to see someone here does go long for trades from time to time

thats my preferred position for now (long)... love this market though, there are opportunities to make money both ways.
