That's a completely arbitrary definition, with no scientific basis. Culturally, Israel is at least as European as Turkey.

For what I know, the French people (left and right)don't want Turkey in euro because they are Muslims. That's what they say, when there is no mike running at least.

Now, for Israel joining Euro, I never asked.
And you know what ?
Now, I wonder why...?
