Well said about Gilder. Exactly my conclusion from the past two or three years of reading his stuff. But I've gone over the side, dropped the sub to his newsletter. His objectionable political views finally outweighed his questionably technology abilities.

Interestingly, the man himself used to post on SI, see Member 4163052 and Subject 16530 . It's been 2 years, though, and his thread is pretty moribund, like most of SI. Anyway, if you find him dubious on the financial side, and I find him dubious on the technical side, I'd guess the middle ground is probably pretty dubious too.

The last message on the Gilder thread points to this amusing screed listed above. Maybe old GG ought to run that one by Karl Rove, see if he can get any traction out of it. I found this terse rebuttal more amusing: #reply-18336808
