I watched people ordered to go back in to those buildings by others who told them there was nothing to worry about and they should continue to work as usual. I could not do anything but tell people around me that those buildings were going down and the people should run out fast Are you saying you heard people were order back into the WTC towers? I don't believe this happened. People did a reasonably good job of getting out of those buildings, I think. If they hadn't the death toll might have been in the tens of thousands instead of the thousands. The only people who went into the building after it was hit were the firemen.

Bush's wording that we were initially talking about, that is, nuking of Iraq even if Saddam used WMDs on the US soldiers invading his country. Guess we will have to cross this bridge if it happens. If Saddam uses any WMD's on US soldiers, I would think that those WMD's would also maim/kill Iraqi citizens as well. You said: I am not debating how appropriate it is for the US to retaliate with nukes if Iraq nukes the US. That will never happen anyway. This is what I thought you meant when I said: yes. If Iraq/Saddam is really stupid enough to nuke OR use ANY other WMD in the US or ANY US property, my answer still is: yes. Why do you think it will never happen? Most Americans thought 9-11 would not happen either.

And BTW zonder, I believe this is exactly what and why the US is saying/doing what they are doing right now. MOST Americans are STILL grieving for the people who were killed on 9-11 and their families. If the "solidarity in Europe" isn't still there, then it was only temporarily there. Americans are not just "temporarily grieving"......9-11 has opened our eyes to many things. FINALLY! Anyway, if you were meaning to suggest that Europeans or myself did not feel for the victims of 9/11 and their loved ones, you are far from the truth. There was enormous solidarity in Europe after 9/11. Just how it dissipated over the course of the past year is widely analyzed and discused in SI. However, the human compassion did not go away. I am (and we are) sorry for the people who perished, and even more so, for their loved ones who stayed behind and grieved.
