JLA, at least you tried, unlike Pro. My responses:

1. We have too many damn holidays already. You can never have too many holidays.

2. MLK was never elected to anything. Neither were the pilgrams.

3. MLK's contribution to the civil rights movement was no greater or lesser than many others. Whose conribution was close to his, and who else was martyred during that time?

4. There are some serious questions about MLK's character. He was a man. He who is without sin . . . .

5. There are some serious questions about MLK's affiliation with anti-American elements, foreign and domestic. Some of his followers, maybe. Any suggestion that MLK was disloyal is wrong.
