I am seriously thinking of changing to PCS to get a phone that is up to date.

As of today, you will have a choice of nine different color 1x devices at PCS, including 2 detached camera phones and one imbedded camera phone.

Of course if you can wait, there is that snappy Nokia in the pipeline. I hear RSH already has them in their system, so probably just another week or two.

How bout having them both, like I do<ggg>

I'm very pleased with my data experience with PCS. But I do need VZ to have a better voice coverage.

re VZ marketing failure

I am also thinking of switching to pcs to get a couple of decent phones. I am giving VZ until mid January to show me why I should not switch.

I'm disappointed VZ hasn't set a date to roll out DO as well, but I'm also disappointed that PCS is waiting for DV and they have yet to adapt brew. IMHO, both CDMA carriers lack vision and a much needed "gorilla marketing" approach.

Hi engineer, you are absolutely correct re: VZ. Instead of of stepping on the neck of their competition, and absolutely crushing the competition, they are letting the competition back in the game. I bet they are doing high fives all over at AWE, NOK et. al.

Unbelievable,

Pinhi

Engineer: whats your idea of a good data phone. before you blast VZ for NO DO, do we know the uptake on current data offerings and their profit contribution. Am I wrong but it looks like VZ is using the data thing to expand minutes/lower monthly bill for avg user. I went from 900 anytime anywhere minutes Nationwide no LD/roam for $100, to 1200 minutes anytime no LD/roam plus 1000 VZ-VZ and unlimited N&W for $80. I can run unlimited data at night albeit at 14kb. What the hell more do you want?

Re: VZ--This is simply another example of the big company that has conflict parts. The largest part of Verizon is its wired service. The greatest fear of the old fuddy duddies in that part of the company is that wireless could capture some of their business. I've attended meetings with the wired guys, and they really are worried they might lose their jobs to the wireless guys.

A parallel case concerns Kodak and its efforts to preserve a market for conventional film, thereby resulting in Kodak being knocked out of the lead in digital cameras, printers, and paper. Kodak even went one step further by trying to set up online printing facilities for digital users, rather than encouraging digital users to do it themselves.

Basically the problem with Verizon is that the company is not ready to let wireless compete with its older and ultimately more expensive wired voice/data services. It's like Kodak! Deja vue all over again.
