My great grandfather owned a slave. The man migrated north aftrer the War looking for an owner and met my great grandfather in Armington, Illinois. GGF took him in and gave him a room behind the grain elevator plus food to scoop grain. Good food and a warm room. Also set up a pay schedule and a bank account. Took him shopping so he could buy what he wanted, a new concept for him.

You are reaching there, JP. Now I am a hypocrite because I feel I do not "owe" African Americans reparations for slavery. Yet, you cannot define what I "owe" them. ANd still you are sure I do not wish them life liberty and pursuit of happiness. Now you have slipped into the range of being a snot nosed liberal pinhead. Now you doubt I have any intelligence since I do not agree with your abstract idea of what I owe great great great grandsons of slaves. Well, so you are more intelligent than I...what the hell has that made you besides arrogant? God may have blessed you with your abilities, but you now employ your abilities in an economy the historical foundation of which rests upon slavery. If you choose to carry your theory that far, then we all better start paying since slavery started WAY THE HECK back yonder, so IMO, there is NO person alive today anywhere in the world that has not benefitted on the backs of slave labor economy. Very well then. Prolife needs to pay his country in lunacy, giving it up in exchange for some dang sense when it comes to the history of his country and of his black countrymen. That kind of payment will go very far to repair the broken roof of our collective house. All this whining about your not owing anyone anything is just a big fat lie. LOL!!! ok, I give up, I exchange my lunacy for sense and I repent for thinking that I had to work my friggin butt off, and now I see the light in that the slaves provided EVERYTHING we have ever owned....will that do it? There are folks in the dang GOP right now whose agenda is to cause all whites to gang up on blacks and either murder them or kick them out of the dang country I have ONE vote, and a voice. I use my vote and my voice to never knowingly vote for a racist of any sort. I cannot control the folks that put David Duke into power, and I have no idea why they would do such a thing. I refuse to go to his website as I do not wish that looney to have my computer "signature". From my understanding, the KKK in America is hardly a force in this day, and as I said, there will always be racists. Paying money ain't no dang reparations and we ought not accept that as a dang definition. no, and you still have not defined it. I have a notion of how it can be repaired, and here it is again: THE AFRICAN AMERICANS WILL NEED TO FORGIVE THE REST OF THE USA AND WORLD FOR MAKING SLAVES OF THEIR ANCESTORS, AND THEN HEALING CAN BEGIN.
