There is no question long rifles and shotguns are an increasing problem in death and crime. Shooting of people with Tika sporting rifles and Bennelli shotguns is up 185% since 1807. 7-11's and filling stations are having to shut down early nowadays because of the wave of camouflaged gun nuts with sporting rifles, pretending they are on the way to the range or the field, holding them up for coffee, batteries for their PDA's and gas for their SUV's. The wanton crime of laying waste to the store employees and shooting up the video aisles featuring Tom Green flicks has added a particulary gruesome element to the out-of-control spate of sadistic yuppie crime. One all black SUV was seen leaving the scene with a rebel flag and Aryan nations bumper sticker on an all chromed bumper. Justice minister Rock knew at that time that action was imperative. The only guns he decided would henceforth be in the hands of cops or robbers. This would vastly simplify the job of administering Kolyma-West. If you see a gun, shoot. No head scratching at all. The science of crime prevention at its best.

The Soviets would agree, they needed crime. The more the better. In fact the Soviet crime rate was never high enough, so like Canada they had to lower the threshold until thinking about crime was actually an offense. Circumstantial evidence of course was the only way to proceed.

One of the particularly interesting aspects of the new long gun law is the right of search and seizure -- that the possibility of an unregistered gun allows the authorities to dispense with a warrant.
That's interesting. It sounds like a search warrant will no longer be needed in Canada.
