It's considered a slur by many people. It's hateful and bigoted. The history of the Irish is a history of torment and personal anguish. Your slur makes light of that history and offends generations of Irish.

WRT to insults, I only saw one. It was when you called MD "Queen Bee". I did not insult you during my protest of your insensitive remarks.

<< the Irish have a history of struggles with alcohol and a propensity toward alcoholism >>

I'm Irish and I have never struggled with alcohol and I don't know that I have any propensity toward alcoholism. Your comment is bigoted and offensive to me.

Do you also believe that blacks have a history of struggles with drugs and a propensity toward watermellon and chicken wings? You probably agree more with Trent Lott than you acknowledge.

*****OT******

"twist the circumstance"

feel free to find the personal insult within the circumstances of the conversation, starting with the unsolicited ethnic slur you made to bill...you know...the one where we were discussing the double standard of liberal dem acceptance of racial and ethnic slurs....as long as it comes from within "their own".

you inserted yourself into our conversation...

when bill objected to your slur, you responded with yet another slur. something i pointed out....to him.

now...

i've linked my profile here in case anyone is interested in verifying the fallaciousness of your post to my friend bill...(that's real friend, not "quote" friend)

perhaps you should take your personal anxieties and drone on about them to another thread where people actually care about such things.

good luck

>>>(originally about Trent Lott's segregationist comments)<<<...Ever see a movie where they tried to apply today's norms to historical events?...A good example escapes me at this moment, but to make the point.. let's say some thoughtful person steps out of the crowd in Salem and protests the latest witch burning because it polluted the air, might lead to global warming in a couple hundred years, or maybe better yet.. that particular breed of head lice is on the endangered species list....

40 years ago how many integrated schools were there in the south? Isn't that the time period mentioned when Lott's "misdeeds" in college are brought up?...My high school in central Florida did not integrate until the late 60's. Very few of us that lived in that period would want things said in that era brought up in a public forum...I remember several kids making statements about "refusing to have black teachers"(cleaned that up to fit today's norms)...I remember joking about it at the time with some off the wall remark about "it was okay with me as long as it was not an english teacher".....

If that particular crack is all you knew about me...then tell me please just what conclusions can you draw about my character?....Is there any chance that Lott's statements reflected on what he knows about Strom from the last 20 years as opposed to a time period in which he was under 10 years old?
