I think that's the point -- when you say things that are complimentary to a 100 year old racist, as is your responsibility under the circumstances, you will say things that aren't intended to be pollicy statements. Did you see where the government is now trying to get tapes of a three year old comedy roast at Enron where they were joking about some accounting stuff? As though anybody intended that to be taken seriously. It's these things that keep me realizing politics is a dirty, nasty business. I've been asked to run several times for local office, by both Democrats and Republicans (nobody seems to know what I am, though out here we don't worry about party much anyhow), but no way am I going to get into that morass.
