Calling a black man a "monkey" is a lot different than comparing the IRA and Orange Militia to a couple of drunks. I think he was being kind.......

Cosell took a bum rap for that. If I remember right, he said "little monkey." Do you remember the guy who was carrying the ball? His nickname was Ice cube. He was small by NFL standards and had a knack for slipping tackles. Cosell was fond of calling his several grandchildren "little monkeys." When he called that guy a little monkey, he was just being affectionate. Maybe a little condescending, but affectionate nonetheless.
