>>>I define success as being able to live off interest and dividend income. You cannot count on trading profits<<<

Bingo George, that's why I believe the retirement figure now days is about $3 million. One could afford to live off the interest in safe investments, keep the government happy with their 40% cut, and be quite well off without touching any pricipal.

George. <You cannot count on trading profits.>

Oh yes I can, and have been doing it for many years.

So, speak for yourself, George.

In fact, there are a number of people here with very successful track records, over many years, via a variety of analysis methods and trading styles.

There's nothing wrong with investing for income. I've set up many income portfolios during my career in this biz. It's an area of market work that doesn't get as much attention here as it should.

Why don't you post about income investing? We've quite a few participants on the thread, myself included, who are interested in encouraging a variety of investment AWA trading styles here.
