you'll be ok if you move to Austin!

remember to refer to asians as "orientals" and gays as "homos"- thats all you need to know!

Seriously I don't know why you are choosing to move out of California, now. This is the time to be here. Rents are reasonable, jobs not too plentiful but improving.

the liberalness of California is way overrated.

plus, they are going to get SO reamed on taxes. their stupid governor just announced a $34BILLION budget shortfall for next year (amazingly, he quoted this as just $21BILLION before the election). that shortfall alone is larger than the entire budget of any other state besides New York.

i am very thankful Texas has no income tax! although they ream you on property tax...

considering the incredible distances people will drive in CA and consider a normal commute just to find some hovel for 400K, i think perhaps one might find similar hovel in TX at a similar commuting distance to Austin for less than 50K.

a friend recently bought a place in Amarillo for under 60K. 10-hour commute--that's about par for the course on the San Jose freeway, ja?
