Ted Re... It was the comment that opened pandora's box and showed us what T. Lott's history was all about. You're entitled to feel its an overreaction but I don't see it that way. I think his actions clearly show a man who is racist.<

Frankly, I think the Dems are making too big of a deal out of it and will get hurt also. In the first place, both times I have seen Trent make similar remarks were at diners in honor of Strom. Other than a couple of votes, such as against MLK birthday, and affirmative action, I don't believe the dems have a strong case for recent racist activities. Yes Trent used to be racist. All of the southern democrats were before they turned republican. And that is the problem for the Dems. The dems have a long history of actively supporting racism in the South for hundreds of yrs. The racism you claim to see today is peanuts compared to the racism espoused by Wallace and other dem. of just 50 yrs ago. So if you want to compare histories, you best be careful, the republicans have a far cleaner past than the dems.

Personally, I also think this was all the excuse the Reps needed to get him out. You do understand, they turned on him behind his back?

Behind his back???? GW said publically several days ago he wanted him out in so many words. Where do you get this stuff. Yes, the rep. wanted him out, because a man with Trents past shouldn't have been a republican, much less the majority leader. After all, Trent was a crossover Democrat, who still espoused Democratic ideals. The republicans in the 70s should have never accepted the southern dem.s to cross over, just as Daschles wooing of Jeffords was partially to blame for the dems drubbing in the 2002 elections.

The fact is that, while the rep. have leaned to cut their losses, you can see that the Dems will never learn, as they trotted out Bill last wk to call Trent a racist last week. LOL Thats a good one, the sexist pig saying how bad of human being Trent was. Why didn't the dems have Gary Condit and McAuliff chime in while you are at it. That really would have shown the American people how sincere you dems are at providing good, clean moral representatives.
