It's a hobby horse of mine that newscasters have a responsibility to get their
stories straight. You wouldn't think that would be too much to ask.


The news cycle is so short nowadays that there are few news outlets that are willing to give their staff the time to get the full story on breaking news. Wait for verification and full information, and you've been scooped almost every time.

I'm generally impressed with how relatively accurate most of the breaking news stories turn out to have been.

A commentator like O'Reilly, though, does have the time and should at least get the facts straight. I've watched him a few times, and find him frankly boring. Very predictable, and no interesting insights.
