Talk about an environmental DISASTER. I have seen them, picture a valley FILLED TO THE BRIM with wind turbines? Yeah, no air pollution, the pollution is on the ground. jdn > You and the rest of the right wingers here clearly don't know what you are talking about, but that never stopped you from spouting off before. The latest windmills produce 250 times what they did 20 years ago, and 1 windmill can provide the power for over a thousand homes. There is no comparison between today's technology and the tax haven wind farms of the past. They are being put up all over the country, mostly supplementing farmers with extra income and providing high quality rural jobs. I would much prefer looking at a windmill than one of Cheney's beloved coal plants. It's curious that this administration and their lapdog media are doing virtually nothing to inform the public about the fastest growing form of energy production. It wouldn't be because free, non-polluting wind power doesn't pay back the guys that bought Bush the presidency, would it? Educate yourself at least a little before spouting off about something that you clearly know little about. Here's a start. "In 2001 the international wind power industry installed more than 6,500 megawatts (MW) of new wind energy generating capacity, bringing total installed capacity to about 24,000 MW. In the U.S. alone, close to 1,700 new megawatts came on line in 2001. Wind farms across the country are currently generating about 10 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) annually, enough to power one million average American homes. As customer demand for clean energy grows and the costs associated with wind power continue to drop, utilities are expected to increase their use of this clean, reliable energy resource."awea.org Del
