And there you did it. Bush only dropped Lott after his most recent racist remarks. I know this may come as a shock to you but that's nearly 40 years after major civil rights legislation was passed. This may come as a shock to you but the Dixiecrats only switched parties 30 yrs ago; and GW was still a teenager 40 yrs ago. As long as the old dixiecrats didn't embarrass the president or the party, everyone left them alone. Lotts gaffe , only a wk after he was elected, made that impossible. Before then, Gw never had reason to dump Trent. He was too busy doing energy deals and inside trading at Harkin, remember. Were you trying to show us how progressive Bush is? Yes, that is a good sign of how progressive GW is. Glad you thought of it. Who looks at quotas as being racist.........Steve Harris? I can't speak for Steve, but you certainly can put me in that category. As an employer, I have always been against quotas; even before the USSC struck down most quotas starting at least ten yrs ago.

ted, When you grow up and get married and have children, and one of those kids needs a doctor, would you want the best doctor working on your child or the best doctor available under a racial quota system? Quotas are another method of reward for loyal voters. The 40 years of the great society of the liberal democrats are nothing more complicated than what your local drug pusher is doing. The voters who vote for the liberals have become hooked on the few handouts they receive. When the addict realizes the liberal is using him and has no intention to improve his situation because it would result in the liberal losing power, great things will begin to happen. With 2000 and 2002, it appears great things are beginning to happen. As Dr Martin Luther King Jr once said, "I have a dream!" MLK's dream has been hijacked by liberals wanting nothing but power at all other's expense and sacrifice. You should read some of his speeches. Steve
