Don't know what their IP is worth [or] if [PVR industry] is worth a $Billion in market cap.

I have seen first hand what Tivo's IP is worth vs. the Dish PVR 501 Linux hack. Tivo never crashes and is so easy and intuitive that my wife, who never reads manuals, has always loved it, as does everyone who has ever tried one. OTOH Echostar's DishPVR 501 crashes so often that I have to call tech support nearly every week. It also takes about 3x the # of keystrokes and accomplishes less. As soon as my one year contract is up, I plan to switch to DirectTV-Tivo or Cable-Tivo supplemented by an additional Replay unit from Sonicblue.

I have not yet used Replay, but Consumer Reports has given them high marks and the unit has more sophisticated features, such as automatic commercial skipping and broadband compatibility. If you haven't tried the product, you really should. I tivo CNBC and many other investment and news programs. The system has paid for itself many times over.

BTW Tivo's market cap is $267M and SBLU is just $51M, so I don't know where you come up with the $1B figure.
