No one wants to see a way of life change, especially the entrenched powers, in the societies that must change. It is easy to blame the rich for all of their problems, and the US is considered the richest. This is shameful avoidance...the reality check is that the US has executed policies of convenience throughout the world and particularly in the Middle East. From support of countries whose leaders are fundamentally tyrants, to uneven support of Israel and lack thereof of Palestinians, and so on....this is not a problem endemic of this administration. This administration is showing its hand more openly and taking a hard line approach that I believe will backfire for the US for decades to come...but it is no different that the ones who came before. I know this may come as a shock to you, but a lot of liberals blame the rich for being rich, because they feel that there is no way the rich got there honestly, they are rich only because the rich exploited the poor; and without the rich, the poor would be better off. I think this is a rather cynical mis-representation of liberal thinking. Probably what conservatives would like to tell eachother. You seem to have been gone for some time. Welcome back. Thanks. I was jsut taking a break. What do you think of the Murray situation. Was she right to lie to promote her anti war stance? I only know of what she said what I have read on the thread. Based on that, I suspect she would rephrase her statement to say that the US is upopular in the Middle East and let's be honest, most of the world today. My son came back from Australia just recently. He was shocked to find that Americans are very upopular there too) because it's policies are self serving and unevenly applied. In other words, we are able to close an eye to human suffering when it serves our material needs, ignore that some countries are not democracies for the same reason, use countries (like Afghanistan) as tools to fight our enemies and then walk away from it when our purpose is served, support even Saddam when he is the enemy of our enemy, I could go on for a while.
