Hello DJ, Could you please let Maurice know that I just had to press the Big Reset Button in the PC Heaven.

(a) My mega Ghz PC's harddrive died a horrible read/write-transducer-grinding-against-platinum-coated-disk-surface type of death and went to harddrive heaven, carrying with it 60 GByte of programs, data, and empty space;

(b) If anyone will give me chance to travel in a time machine and go back 18 months earlier, allowing me to have two hard drives installed in the PC when new, I would do it;

(c) But life does not work that way, as in time machines only travel in the forward direction, and not back;

(d) Thankfully, all of my data, meaning MS Outlook, Money, Frontpage, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and photograph files are backed up each and every ^%$&^54!_)(* day; and

(e) So, I can rip out the offending harddrive, pulverize it to make sure no data can go AWOL, and proceed to do what will try my patience: buy new drive, install all the programs via CD-ROM and on-line services, update the programs loaded via CR-ROM on-line, reload data files;

(f) I have a list of all the programs I had ever loaded into the PC, along with a log of all the software fixes and manual ini/registry changes I had ever made so as to make the PC sing;

(g) Even so, it should take me a few weeks to get my life back to 'normal state' given that I have other work to do, unless I decide to ruin my holidays, which I may choose to do; and

(h) I so wanted to waste the two days of New Year on on-line Unreal Tournament Last Man Standing Death Match combat.

Ask Maurice whether he has a big Aztec Financial Reset Button. The last I heard, he did not.

Chugs, Jay
