I actually e-mailed these guys when I read that a few months ago Searle.

$150/oz. would close down almost all mining worldwide. The authors apparently do not consider gold as precious, but a mere commodity. They apparently looked at the supply/demand side only without considering monetary policy, international trade, geo-political events, US fiscal policy, etc. which all directly influence the POG.

I didn't get a reply.
