As he's said recently, what he does isn't a debate of the issues, it is purely "a performance". I am amazed at the large number of people at the office who don't realize he is a caricature, and who accept everything he utters as gospel. These same people realize that pro wrestling is a sham but cannot see through Rush. Scary...

Howdy MSI, Re: He's the first hate-radio commentator to hit the bigtime Granted, Rush is a bigger phenomenon, but I believe Father Coughlin of Detroit was the first hate-radio commentator to hit the big time in national syndication, back in the 1930's. He attracted exactly the same gullible and prejudiced audience that Rush does today. Rush's contract with Cap Cities/ABC (or whoever the corporate pimp happens to be) is proof of Menchen's Theorem: "Nobody ever lost a dime underestimating the taste of the American public."
