How will Bush pay for all his promises? Voodoo Economics?
His Dad correctly realized that when you cut taxes for those who dont need it only a small trickle down effect would result, maybe. But the pile-up of government debt would make it impossible (as Bush Sr found out) to have both your cake and eat it too for long. Now Bush has promised us everything under the moon with few cuts in spending. So where are they planning to make up for trillions in tax cuts to the wealthy over the next ten years, or God help the middle-class, if they make the high income and estate taxes permanent? Well, one place. Social Security and Medicare are going to have to get cut to ribbons. Just as the Baby Boomers retire. Huge trainwreck coming thanks to those who believed Bush wasn't cooking the books. Can the USA go bankrupt? We may soon find out if we don't get Bush out in 2004. Kerry has said it correctly. There is no free lunch. Either you can have lower taxes or you can have government services. Or something inbetween. But not one or the other. Rush Limbaugh was recently saying that lower taxes create a sudden explosion of new growth revenues. Well maybe-maybe for a little while, but then as the debt builds you're just putting off the day of reckoning. Remember Reagan left us with the greatest deficits ever. Some said it was worth it to out-spend the Soviets. Maybe so. But there is no Soviet Union left so why are we doing it again now? Have a small band of terrorists hijacking planes given the hawks excuse to create the biggest military build-up in history? Isn't it obvious where the real problem lies? O-I-L. If we start getting off it now all of these problems will start gradually going away. F the Arabs, I say, just let's not buy their oil ever again. But to do that we need to do what the europeans are already doing. Start replacing the stuff with clean fuel systems. As many as possible and as quickly as possible. Even Newt Gingrich agrees with this. But nothing is being done with Bush-Cheney and the Big Oil cabal in charge. They literally own our government now.
