Appro - please disclose if you work for or are affiliated with GTW in any manner (including consulting, investment, underwriting, or have friends/relatives that work there, etc.) or are simply a very knowledgeable and comprehensive, unbiased consumer advocate of GTW computers?

I bought 30k worth of gateway. two desktops, 3 laptops for my business and two houses. They have been the worst peice of crap I have ever owned and customer serivce the worst I have experienced. I know Ted and tried to contact him personally to say "hey how about doing something with your customer service to improvce a little" but I was always headed off at the pass by protective brown nosers who never wanted to rock the boat.

In my case one desktop took 4 months to get right. When I had finished I figured we had worked out the problems wiht it, so I ordered another to duplicate it. surisingly it arrived just as bad as the other one and to this day I still have problems with it.

The last laptop I ordered took me 9 monhts to get right. I even echanged the entire thing TWICE and it still was screwed up. They kept sending me parts and rebuilding instructions and return shipping stuff and it never got right.

I have since bought another 40k worth of Dell and will NEVER buy Gateway again. Price is one thing, but if it doesn't work and the customer service is just a "send em another one" without a brain, they will never make it.

IMHO bankruptcy with a huge fire sale is about the only option here unless they make a real change.
