I believe the problem is a more pervasive part of the culture. well... sort of... more accurately though, i believe that the best approach for dealing with violence and crime is with an international system of justice that provides due process for the accused and then tries and sentences individuals rather than groups, religions, countries, races or cultures. i believe that the responsibility for any act can and should be placed on the shoulders of the individual(s) who commit the acts. trial in court, subject to established procedure and rules of evidence is much more just than trial by propaganda and fist-pounding, broadcast demonization. we have a long way to go before we have an international system of laws and justice but it has begun. the first step is the simple agreement that we all want to do commerce globally. i think the majority of the people on the planet can agree on that goal. if we start at the common need, we can grow from there, just as the EU did and is continuing to do. i'm disappointed and confounded as to why the US has chosen NOT to ratify the international criminal court. it certainly makes us look like hypocrites when we say that we are victims of international crimes yet we don't want the help and support of an international body to arrest and try the individuals responsible.hrw.org committing murder and terrorist acts of our own around the globe under the loose and unlawful concept of "war" might be easier for the US administration but it's a great disservice to the american people in the long run and may prove to be another in an increasingly long list of motives for the rest of the world to condemn and disfavor us. what i gather from our exchange of posts is that i'm more focused on the individual when it comes to power, responsibility, crime, justice and even reward... and you seem more focused on group responsibility. yes? no? i believe in pushing power and responsibility down to the individual rather than vice versa... i.e., the inverted pyramid management model.
