Then the US has already descended into their level, and has no right to claim moral superiority, fighting for the western civilization etc. I don't believe this, by the way. I would like to hope that eventually, once the craze passes, the US will come back to its senses and demand justice for these people, some of whom are probably there for no reason than the money their captors wanted to get from the US army for delivering a member of Al-Qaeda.

You are right. And neither should you.

I remember a time when in another country ravaged by daily terrorist acts, western countries would send observers to see how the captive terrorists were being treated. The US did not think then that it was OK to draw blood from terrorists. Funny how having the same thing done to you changes your views about treatment of others.

By the way, I would never support locking up people for years on end without a trial then, and I certainly do not support it now.
