Semiconductor Equipment . . . Banc of America analyst Mark Fitzgerald believes the shares of chip equipment makers will retest the lows of the last few months sometime in the first half of 2003. He noted that "momentum" charts -- a measure of the rate of change in the growth of chip shipments -- have been declining since reaching 10-year highs early in the fall of 2002. "Chips stocks do not typically rise as momentum declines," Fitzgerald said.
