You do not really know what the French world view is.

The overall Euro view is the one that interests me, and I get it by reading, whither I do it on the beach at Waikiki or in a Cafe in Paris.

This concept that you can only know something if you personally experience it is nonsense. Nothing would ever get done if we all had to run around and see everything for ourselves.

Besides, I don't even like to leave my zip code anymore. :>)

Hi Zonder,

I am about as close to France as you can get without living there - hint Switzerland - and admit I agree with LB about the French attitude. As far as I can tell, their world starts and stops at Paris.

BTW, I just finished reading the biography of Jean Moulin which gave me a lot of insight into the French. Not even under Nazi occupation could they succeed in working together.

A quote from de Gaulle always consoles me when I am lost trying to understand them: 'How do you expect me to govern a country which makes 400 different types of cheese.' And another which I freely admit to have adopted from Physics -'the French are often in error but never in doubt.'

Et je peux vous dire que je parle pas mal leurs langue et ca m'aide pas a les comprendrent.

All this IMHO.
