I thought about that, but am not sure that's relevant. July 5 came at the end of a downtrend, but it turned out to be a one-day wonder.

Here's the dates (from Lowrys). If anyone notices something, please post your findings.

7-29-60 Start of three-week rally

3-25-70 Blow-off top

11-30-70 Big rally followed (there were five 90% downside days 6 months earlier)

8-2-78 Near blow-off top

10-6-82 Rally followed

7-20-83 Blow-off top

12-18-84 Big rally followed

5-11-90 Two-month rally followed

2-11-91 Rally followed (there were seven 90% downside days in 1990)

3-16-00 Rally followed

7-5-02 Blow-off top

7-29-02 Sharp correction followed

1-2-03 ?

Up volume was a remarkable 15:1 over down volume on the NYSE, which
has not happened since 1997.
